Can my student take the official SCDMV road test before holding their permit for 180 days?
No. South Carolina state law strictly mandates that beginner’s permit holders under age 17 must hold their permit for at least 180 full days before taking the official skills road test. However, you can schedule and complete all 8 hours of classroom study and 6 hours of in-car instruction at any time during those 180 days.
